The Principality of Monaco has been presided over for seven centuries, by the
Grimaldi family. The two square kilometers of the Cote d'Azur, has become a
playground for the wealthy, and a tax haven, for its residents.
A great tourist attraction is the annual F1 Grand Prix. The 3.340km tracks race is
held over 78 laps. To date Michael Schumumacher, holds the fastest lap recorded at
Monaco.
Monaco's Casino was built in 1863 the 'Atrium', is ornately paved in marble and
onyx. While the 'Salle Garnier', is decorated in plush red and gold. Rooms are
decorated with, frescoes, and sculptures, making the architecture alone worth a
visit. Even if you cannot afford to have a flutter, you could try your luck on the
slot machines.
